 A woman's Christmas celebration yesterday ended on a good note after she was delivered of a baby and a massive fibroid.  According to a Nigerian medical practitioner identified as Eric Ojeh, the woman who arrived the hospital with her huge bump, was delivered of the baby who weighed 1.8kg alongside the massive fibroid which weighed 9.8kg.  The doctor was excited about the baby's birth and hailed the delivery a Christmas gift.     A 33-year-old housewife, Sadiya Salihu, died after battling for her life at the Aunty Zainab Nursing Home and Maternity in the Sheka area of  Kano State . The mother of four, who got married on April 24, 2010, to a businessman in Nguru LGA of Yobe State, Ibrahim Yunusa Bature, was reported to have been locked up by her husband for several months without food. Sadiya died in the late hours of Saturday at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) after she was transferred to its Intensive Care Unit (ICU).        The Commissioner of Police in Enugu state has ordered the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) Enugu to thoroughly investigate the case of alleged conspiracy and murder of a newborn male child (infanticide), by the mother of the child, one Ada Joy Okonkwo aged 18, and her mother, one Christiana Okonkwo of about 60 years old, at Olocha-Adogba in Awgu community of Awgu L.G.A., on November 7. A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, says preliminary investigation shows that the said mother of the newborn child used a kitchen knife to stab the child to death, following the counseling of her mother, moments after she was delivered of the baby at home. Ndukwe said the child was taken to the hospital and confirmed dead by the doctors on duty, while the corpse was deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.            The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed that a woman identified as Mary Imewe allegedly butchered her mother, Eka Ime, to pieces in Ikot Ekpene local government area of the state.    Recall that the shocking incident happened at Ikot Akpang in Ikot Ekpene on Friday Novembe According to eyewitnesses, when the police came to arrest her, the suspect also known as 'Mummy' reportedly told them to take her away as she does not care.    A baby who was kidnapped has been rescued one week after being tied inside a cement bag in Rivers state. According to reports, the woman in the picture allegedly kidnapped the baby and tied her inside the cement bag for close to a week in Ozuoba community, Obio/Akpor local government area of the state. It was gathered that luck ran out in the alleged kidnapper this afternoon as she was caught and later confessed to the crime. She was taken to where she put the child who was found alive. The woman was beaten by her captors as they dragged her to the police station while she wept. Parents and guardians have been warned to pay more attention to their children/ward most especially this time of the year.

   A 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 5-year-old girl in Awka, Anambra state. It was gathered that the little girl complained of pains in her private part to her mother and upon interrogation, she mentioned Mr. Dave, her neighbour for being responsible. According to reports, the girl was in Mr. Dave's room to watch cartoon when he (Dave) removed her pant and penetrated using his fingers. After the evil act, he gave her Gala in a bid to silence her. It was learnt that the parents were initially scared to report the case to the police as they felt the police may pervert justice and don't have the funds to pursue the case which has now been taken up by the Behind Bars Initiative (BBI). The suspect denied the allegation but later accepted and revealed he's willing to take care of the medical expenses. He is currently detained at B Division.

 So sad. This was an avoidable death. Just looking at her you will know she was a healthy baby. I know what killed her and it is usually when after breastfeeding, mother's lie their babies on their backs just as she is pictured. I know of one case like this. Babies younger than 3 or 4mths should never be laid on their backs especially after feeding. The baby must be made to belch by simply holding the baby on one's shoulder and tapping her back gently before lying her on bed. The baby must have belched and the milk regurgitated and from there went into her lungs. If she was on her side or on her belly, she would have been able to cough out the regurgitated milk. Always check on your baby every 2mins when they are this young

  Boy died iron rod head11-Year-Old Boy Dies With An Iron Rod Pierced In His Head After He Fell Off Coconut Tree A young boy reportedly aged 11 has died after he fell from a coconut tree and got pierced in the head from an iron rod on the ground. According to reports available to OccupyGh.com, the deceased claimed a coconut tree to plug the fruit. He unfortunately fell and stuck the back of his head into an iron rod that was stuck in a block on the ground. He is said to have died afterward. The rob can be seen protruding from the back of his head to the top. The town has been plunged into fear following the incident.

Activist, Prince Harrison Gwamnishu, who visited Anambra state after the story went viral, said the said girl is from Ihiala community and is actually 15 going on 16. Harrison in an interview with LIB, said the girl is from a very poor family and that she had a child when she was in primary 5 and had to quit school.
